Rihanna joined Maroon 5 for a new version of the band’s “If I Never See Your Face Again.” In the video shoot where Rihanna and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine had to act out an on-screen romance. “It was fun, but it was difficult to get serious for the seductive scenes because Adam and I are friends,” Rihanna said of the shoot. “We would bust out laughing on every other shot — that was the best part.” The track hits radio on May 13. *** April 7, 2008: "Rihanna Reveals Her Style Secrets" She's one of music's most stylish stars, and in a revealing new interview, Rihanna dishes about her fashion obsessions and favorite beauty tips — as well as her tomboy past. "I’ve been a fashion fanatic since I was little, looking at all the international magazines. But I used to dress like a boy when I was a kid," she admits to the British edition of In Style. “I’d wear my brother’s baggy pants and his trainers.” And her tastes have definitely changed over the years. “Now I like little skull caps, jeans, flat boots that come up to the knees. The singer’s LP ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ won International Album of the Year at the ceremony which took place at Calgary’s Pengrowth Saddledome. Rihanna fought off stiff competition from Fergie, Bon Jovi, Josh Groban and Timbaland to land the accolade. New Canadian singing sensation Feist picked up a remarkable five awards on the night. As Feist took to the stage to collect her first statuette, Single of the Year for hit ‘1234′, she said: “I wrote down a load of stuff to say on my arm. Should I try to chip through it?” Later, when her LP ‘The Reminder’ was named Pop Album of the Year, she added: “I am so grateful. I forgot to say that last time.” Feist, 32, also walked away with Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. *** April 1, 2008: "Rihanna: 'Chris Brown And I Are Just Friends'" First Chris Brown dismissed rumours that he was dating Rihanna, and now the singer herself has spoken out, denying that she and Chris are an item, saying: "We are best friends, honestly, like brother and sister." “I won’t say that we’re just friends – me and Chris are really best, best friends,” the 20-year-old star told MTV News at Saturday’s Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles. The two singers have been the subject of a flurry of rumours about their relationship, after photographs were published of them spending time together. *** March 7, 2008: "Rihanna Bans Umbrella’s At Her Gig!" Rihanna has reportedly banned umbrellas from her gigs because she is frightened of being killed! Rihanna apparently requested extra security for her shows in Bulgaria, which is where Georgi Markov was killed by a ‘poison gun’ umbrella during the Cold War. Rihanna may be terrified of being assassinated by a brolly gun, but I doubt it. Apparently some of Rihanna’s fans have been copying the dancers onstage by dancing with umbrellas and injuring each other! Fans who attended Rihanna’s gig on Monday 3 March had their umbrellas confiscated by security guards as they entered the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre in Scotland. Security guard Andy McDonald said, “We don’t normally ask people to leave an umbrella outside. But we were taking precautions over a potential accident. We were told that Rihanna’s song features dancing with umbrellas onstage. We didn’t want the crowd following her actions and someone getting their eye poked out.” Fan Shonagh Henderson said, “I couldn’t believe it when I had mine taken off me. The 20-year-old “Umbrella” singer and 18-year-old R&B sensation continued their snuggle-fest all night long with kissing, cuddling, dancing, taking photos of each other and playing with sparklers. After getting spotted in a pool in Jamaica, a few days back, Rihanna was adamant that they were just buddies. “I’m single. But the “Umbrella” singer is being talked about for another reason! When Rihanna and Jay-Z were announced for winning a Grammy for "Umbrella," Rihanna grabbed Jay-Z's hand to lead him to the stage. Jay wasn't into it and he pulled her hand away. Cameras then caught Rihanna throwing her hands up in the air as if to say, ‘What’s wrong?’ The pair then distanced themselves on the stage as they were presented with their trophy. A Girl Like Me: In 2006, Rihanna participated in several endorsement deals, including for Nike and J.C. Penney. She released her second album, A Girl Like Me, in April 2006, less than eight months after the release of her first album. The album debuted at number five in the U.S. and number four in the UK. The lead single, "SOS", was used in her endorsement deal with Nike. Good Girl Gone Bad: Rihanna went into the studio in early 2007 with Ne-Yo, Stargate, and Timbaland among others to record her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad. The album was released on June 5, 2007. It features Jay-Z and Ne-Yo as featured artists. The first single, "Umbrella", featuring Jay-Z, was released on March 29, 2007, reaching number one in various countries, including the U.S. "Umbrella" was the #1 single in the UK for 10 consecutive weeks. It was the longest running #1 single since "Wet Wet Wet's¹" single "Love Is All Around", back in 1994, and the longest running #1 by a female artist since Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", which also topped the chart for 10 weeks in 1992. It was produced by Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and Terius "The Dream" Nash. Then her second single, "Shut Up and Drive", was sent to radio stations on June 5, has so far peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her third single, "Don't Stop The Music" was premiered on BET's 106 & Park on July 20, 2007. Rihanna also stated that the album has a different feel from her previous two, with more up-tempo and mid-tempo melodies. Rihanna worked with Timbaland on three songs in the album. Justin Timberlake co-wrote and provides background vocals on "Rehab". In interviews, many have questioned the meaning and reasoning of the album title. The album title reflects the difference between the old and new Rihanna. "Bad means cool, bad means funky, bad means having an attitude, bad means being edgy. This album is definitely a great representation of who I am now, and where I am in my career," she says. Seven weeks after the album was released, it had gone gold in the United States and Platinum on the United World Albums Chart. Rihanna was recently named 2007 Venus Breeze 'Celebrity Legs of a Goddess' by Gillette, and she insured her legs for $1,000,000. Rihanna is also set to be going on tour with Chris Brown and Bow Wow. On July 7, 2007, Rihanna performed at the Japanese leg of Live Earth in Tokyo.
