Sir Paul McCartney is set to buy a new U.S. apartment to be nearer to his girlfriend.

The Beatles legend, who has been dating millionairess Nancy Shevell since last year, has been looking at properties in New York's prestigious Upper East Side - where Nancy currently lives.

The 66-year-old musician already has a property on West 54th Street, which he has owned since the 80s. Paul often stayed in the apartment with his ex-wife Heather Mills.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: "He has been looking at eight-figure apartments. I think he just wants to rid himself of the Heather factor."

Paul is said to be unhappy with his current property because the nearby Museum of Modern Art recently added a glass facade which gives visitors a clear view into his home.

Paul and Nancy, 47, have been inseparable recently.

They enjoyed a road trip across the U.S. on the famous Route 66 last month. The couple also went to Antigua for a romantic break in April.

September 2, 2008: "Sir Paul McCartney Writes A Love Song For Girlfriend Nancy Shevell"

Sir Paul McCartney has written a love song for his girlfriend Nancy Shevell. The 66-year-old former Beatle feels so strongly about the U.S. heiress he has put his emotions into music for Nancy, 48.

A source said: "The song Paul has written a song for Nancy looks set to be on his new album. Paul has long been inspired by the women in his life and Nancy is no different."

Earlier this year, it was revealed Paul had collaborated on a song about his ex-wife Heather Mills with world music artist Nitin Sawhney.

A source said of the track: "Paul has done a track about how he feels about Heather because no one has heard his side of it at all. It's a very emotional and very powerful song."

Paul has also previously composed songs for his first wife Linda, who passed away after a battle with breast cancer in 1998, including "Maybe I'm Amazed" in 1970.

A number of Paul's songs for The Beatles, including "And I Love Her" and "Here, There and Everywhere" were said to be inspired by his ex-fiancee, Jane Asher.

Meanwhile, Paul has been spotted kissing Nancy on his boat named after Linda.

The couple were sailing at The Hamptons, on New York's Long Island, while on holiday with Paul's four-year-old daughter, Beatrice, with Heather.

Nancy is presently in the process of divorcing her lawyer husband of 23 years, Bruce Blakeman. The pair were separated when Paul and Nancy met.

A source said: "He booked the room himself, but wouldn't have realized that it had so much leather in its interior."

"He would have been a bit annoyed, but the whole point of the trip is to travel anonymously so he wouldn't have caused a fuss."

"He can't change how other people decorate a room."

Record store owner Don Dunavin told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "I was holding Jude and Paul walked right in front of us. I took two steps forward and shook his hand. He went to Jude, grabbed his hand and started talking to him. After we told him his name he said, 'I've got something for him.'"

"Jude was smiling at him. I told my wife to get the camera out and he stopped. He said, 'Please, no pictures.' But then started playing some more."

The former Beatles legend has teamed up with electronic music star Nitin Sawhney to record the acoustic ballad entitled "My Soul." Sawhney said: "Paul has done a track about how he feels about Heather and what was going on with the paparazzi because no one has heard his side of it at all - so this will be the first time anyone hears a song relating to that subject. It's a very emotional and very powerful song." A friend of the musician added to the MailOnline website: "What the song shows is that rather than feeling embittered towards Heather, Paul just feels sorry for her." "He feels sorry that she was never able to tell him the full truth about her past life. He feels that their romance happened so fast and so publicly that a lot never really got said." "Paul knows Heather is a complex person, and deeply misunderstood - but that she has hardly helped herself by being less than transparent about her life." Lyrics on the heartfelt ballad include Paul singing about how Heather helped him cope following the death of his first wife Linda in 1998, and phrases such as, "We could climb every mountain, swim through every sea. When the all world is asleep we could set ourselves free." The song will appear on Sawhney's new record "London Undersound," which will be released in October.

Paul, who first met George in 1954, said: "He was my little baby brother, almost, because I'd known him that long."

Paul also spoke about the last time he saw George, just days before he died from cancer. He added in an interview with Uncut magazine: "We held hands. It's funny, even at the height of our friendship - as guys - you would never hold hands. I sat with him for a few hours when he was in treatment. He was about 10 days away from his death. But it was lovely and the years just stripped back. We joked about things."

"One of the things I remember him saying - because he'd been moved from Switzerland to a clinic in New York, and then somewhere else - was, 'Can't we just stop in one place?' And I was going, 'Yeah! Let's go to Speke Hall!' which is an old Tudor tourist place in Speke, where me and George are from. And he's going, 'Oh, that'd be great.' Just amusing, nutty stuff."

"It was good. It was like we were dreaming."

Beatle legend Sir Paul McCartney has made the day of 350,000 people after he played at the biggest crowd Ukraine had ever witnessed despite the bad weather on Saturday.

The free Independence Concert was organized by Ukrainian billionaire Viktor Pinchuk and was broadcast on television across the country. It aimed to unite the country split between the pro-Western central and west and pro-Russian south-eastern regions.

Paul McCartney told the drenched crowd, "It's great to be here. Thank you for coming out in the rain."

April 20, 2008: "Paul McCartney Taking Heather Mills On World Tour"

Paul McCartney is planning to take ex-wife Heather Mills on a world tour, this planned 14-month tour will not be a holiday, its purely business, Paul is desperate to spend time with their daughter Beatrice and he doesnt want to go on the road for such a long period without seeing her.

As part of this agreement Paul will pay for the flights and hotels so Heather can accompany Bea around the world as she spends time with her father.

An insider said, Paul is desperate to keep Bea close by him. If he just heads off round the world he will get upset at not seeing her.
He realizes he has to do some kind of deal with Heather, and to keep disruption to a minimum he has come up with this idea. He feels that letting Heather fly to him where they are touring could be the best way.
Many of those close to him are not sure this plan will work. Heather is so unpredictable that anything could happen.

March 7, 2008: "Paul McCartneys Upcoming 200 Million iTunes Deal"

Sir Paul McCartney is reportedly due to sign a deal with EMI Records to release the Beatles back catalogue online, which will help pay the bills for his multi-million-pound divorce from Heather Mills.
The singles and albums, including Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, the White Album, and Help!, are reported to be the most prized music catalogue released via the internet and estimated to be worth up to 200 million. They will be available on iTunes in the coming months, following the final divorce hearing which is due to take place at the High Court in about 10 days.
Paul McCartneys solo catalogue has been available for download since last May but the Beatles recordings will be far more valuable.

Paul McCartney has been planning the catalogues online release for many years, but a number of legal wrangles held up any deals. In particular, the Beatles row with Apple over use of the name in a music context, the bands music is published by their own Apple Corp, and the bands estate has made it difficult for each of the four bandmembers representatives to agree on any decisions.
A source close to Paul McCartney said, I reckon the Beatles catalogue will go on this year.
Paul himself recently said, Its all happening soon. The whole thing is primed, ready to go, theres maybe one little sticking point left and I think its being cleared up as we speak so it shouldnt be too long.
