September 5, 2008: "Guy Ritchie Plays Madonna's Songs On Set Of His Film "RocknRolla""

Guy Ritchie plays Madonna songs on set. The "Snatch" director - who is married to the 50-year-old singer - can't resist listening to his spouse's hit tracks to help him concentrate at work.

Gerard Butler, who stars in Guy's new film "RocknRolla," said: "He doesn't want to admit it but he plays her music all the time. We were going always going crazy on set to 'Holiday' and 'Vogue.'"

Guy, who was also being interviewed on BBC Radio 1, did not comment on Gerard's admission, only adding: "Moving swiftly on."

After Gerard opted to play Madonna's hit track "Lucky Star" during the interview, Guy said: "Now that is a good tune, and I don't care what you say."

Gerard's "RocknRolla" co-star Thandie Newton recently revealed she refused to film her sex scene with the Scottish actor because he was ill.

The 35-year-old actress - who plays stunning accountant Stella in the new movie - insisted the scene didn't involve her kissing him after she realized how sick Gerard was.

Thandie said: "I arrived on set for the sex scene to find Gerry was very unwell indeed. So I wouldn't kiss him."

"Guy had to improvise. I don't know how he coped with those problems but it ended up being one of the most brilliant scenes. But I did find it challenging having to climax in a close-up to camera."

September 3, 2008: "Guy Ritchie Bans Wife Madonna To Drive A Sports Car"

Guy Ritchie has banned his wife Madonna from driving a fast car. The "RocknRolla" director, who turns 40 on September 10, doesn't want his 50-year-old spouse to buy him a sports car for his birthday because she is "appalling" behind the wheel.

He said: "If she buys a fast car, she will not be a driver in it. No way will Madonna drive a fast car! She is an appalling driver."

Guy also admits he doesn't share Madonna's interest in horses and is actually terrified of them.

He said: "The missus loves horses, but actually I'm scared of horses. I run away, I've never been able to get over that horse thing."

When asked if the couple, who are already raising three children together, are planning to expand their brood further, Guy answered: "You will have to speak to her about that. She makes those decisions."

He added: "I listen to what my wife has to say. I don't sniff at her creative opinions. I value them."

Guy and Madonna have two sons - eight-year-old Rocco and David, two, who was adopted from Malawi. Madonna also has an 11-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from a previous relationship.

Earlier this month, it was claimed the couple were planning to adopt a two-year-old girl from Malawi.

August 29, 2008: "Guy Ritchie Buys Madonna Two Hermes Drawings For Her 50th Birthday"

Guy Ritchie bought Madonna two Hermes drawings for her 50th birthday. The "RocknRolla" director has revealed that, although the pictures were expensive, they cost nothing compared to the lavish party he threw for his wife at exclusive London nightspot Volstead to celebrate her special day earlier this month.

Guy said: "I bought her two original Hermes drawings of equestrian thingies - but, trust me, the party was infinitely more expensive than the paintings."

The 39-year-old director also rubbished claims he and Madonna - who have been plagued by rumors their marriage is in crisis - are to renew their wedding vows.

He said: "We won't be renewing our vows. I think once was enough. And I've just paid out on a big party for her birthday!"

Guy is currently promoting his new film "RocknRolla," which is about London gangsters who are battling for a slice of a property scam.

Thandie Newton takes the film's female lead, with Guy - who directed Madonna in the critically-panned 2002 film "Swept Away" - saying there was never any question his wife would star in it.

He added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "The Madonna factor just seems to get in the way I'm afraid."

"There wasn't a place for the wife in this movie. 'Swept Away' was supposed to be for a smaller market but you can't really do small things with the missus, so I was naive in that respect."

August 18, 2008: "Guy Ritchie Pays Tribute To Wife Madonna At Her 50th Birthday Party"

Madonna's husband Guy Ritchie paid tribute to her at her 50th birthday celebrations on Saturday.

The director threw a lavish $200,000 party for 90 guests to celebrate his wife reaching the landmark age at the weekend and, in an emotional speech, spoke of his love and pride for the singer.

Guy told partygoers at the Volstead nightclub in London: "She looks better now than she has ever done. I'm so proud. I love her so much."

Despite organizing the party, Guy spent most of the day working as he hosted a private industry screening of his new movie "RocknRolla."

An insider commented: "It was as if he was trying to make a point by not being at her beck and call."

The "Give It 2 Me" singer was moved to tears when her 11-year-old daughter Lourdes performed a surprise rendition of "Never Alone" from the musical "Fame" at the venue's grand piano.

Madonna was left disappointed after her closest friends - including Stella McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow - failed to attend the party.

In a 40-minute speech, she thanked Guy, Lourdes, eight-year-old son Rocco, and adopted son David, two, before adding: "I'm really disappointed. There are a lot of people who are not here tonight, but thanks to everyone who did make it."

Guy also poked fun at the absence of Madonna's friends in his speech, noting that many of the guests worked for her.

Around 40 partygoers were her dancers, who joined the star and her children to gyrate to her back catalogue on the dance-floor, which had a huge M in the middle.

A friend said: "She loved it when her songs came on. Her dancers were pulling out all the moves, it was like the final rehearsal for her tour."

Guy Ritchie was expelled from Stanbridge Earls School, one of the most prominent institutions specialising in dyslexia in the UK, at the age of 15. He has stated that drug use was the reason for the expulsion; his father, however, has said that it was because his son was caught "cutting lessons and entertaining a girl in his room."

In addition to his elder sister, Tabitha, a dance instructor, Ritchie has a half-brother, Kevin Bayton, who was born to Amber Parkinson when she was a teenager and given up for adoption.

From 1973 until 1980, when they divorced, Ritchie's mother was married to Sir Michael Leighton, 11th baronet, a descendant of the Pre-Raphaelite painter Lord Leighton. As a divorce, she is correctly styled as Amber, Lady Leighton.

Guy Ritchie directed a 20-minute short film in 1995 entitled The Hard Case. His first full-length feature was the successful Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998. Recalling Quentin Tarantino, The Sting and The Italian Job, the film was widely praised for its wit. It also introduced actor Jason Statham (The Transporter) to worldwide audiences, and introduced former football player Vinnie Jones to a new career as a film actor.

His second feature film was Snatch, released in the year 2000. Originally known as Diamonds, it was another caper comedy, this time backed by a major studio following the previous success of Lock, Stock.

Following his marriage to Madonna, Ritchie began focusing his filmmaking on his famous wife, directing her in both a music video (for the song "What It Feels Like for a Girl," a controversial video that showed Madonna engaging in running people down with a car) and a short film, "Star", for the BMW films series. Ritchie's next feature, also a vehicle for Madonna, was a remake of the 1974 Lina Wertmller hit Swept Away (also entitled Swept Away). Ritchie cast Madonna as a rich, rude, socialite who, after a shipwreck, is trapped on a deserted island with a slovenly Communist sailor who humiliates her.

In 2008, Ritchie directed a commercial for Nike called "Take It To The Next Level".
