Beyonce Knowles is "over being a pop star." The "Crazy in Love" singer admits she now feels it is time she is considered an "icon" in the music industry. She said: "I'm over being a pop star. I don't want to be a hot girl. I want to be iconic. And I feel like I've accomplished a lot. I feel like I'm highly respected, which is more important than any award or any amount of records. And I feel like there comes a point when being a pop star is not enough." "I now think I'm opening doors for more black women, just like Halle Berry and Diana Ross opened doors for me." Beyonce also spoke about her alter-ago who she calls 'Sasha', explaining when she acts as 'Sasha' she has a lot more confidence. She added to Britain's Marie Claire magazine: "Things I do when I am performing I would never do normally. I always wish I could feel the way I do on stage when I'm doing a movie because I have out of body experiences. I'm so fearless." *** August 7, 2008: " Beyonce Knowles White - washed in New L'Or�al Ad ?" A new L'Or�al ad , featuring Beyonce Knowles is stirring controversy, where the 26 yr old singer looks like she's been a little.....whitewashed. The ad is in the September issues of Elle, Allure and Essence on US magazine stands. L'Oreal has been accused of digitally lightening the Beyonce's skin. However, a rep for the cosmetics giant denies the rumors saying , "It is categorically untrue that L'Or�al Paris altered Ms. Knowles' features or skin-tone in the campaign for Feria hair color". *** July 3, 2008: "Beyonce Knowles To Get Paid $1 Million For Private Concert" Beyonce Knowles is set to receive $1,000,000 for a one-off performance, she is set to receive $500,000 for an appearance at the Bermuda music festival, with a further $500,000 to cover her expenses. Beyonce will join Alicia Keys and UB40 as headliners of the festival, which will also feature a performance by Beyonce's sister Solange and a host of other acts and comedians. Rock Newman, a producer of the music festival, said securing Beyonce will help put the tiny North Atlantic island on the map: "This event will garner more worldwide attention for Bermuda than anything that has ever happened here. Folks around the world are going to say 'Bermuda has got it going on!'" *** June 24, 2008: "Beyonce Knowles Hosts Dance Party for Sister�s 22nd Birthday" Beyonce Knowles threw a dance party for Solange�s 22nd birthday Monday night that brought out pals Ludacris, Ne-Yo, Mario and Destiny Child�s Michelle Williams. Guests danced to tracks like Prince�s �Kiss� and Bob Marley�s �Could You Be Loved� spun by Lindsay Lohan pal DJ Samantha Ronson, as the birthday girl grabbed a microphone and called people to the floor. Lohan sat close to the deejay booth early on, but left before most guests arrived at the Hollywood Hills mansion at 11 p.m. On Solange�s request, Ronson kept the tunes in the family, playing nearly every hit in Beyonc� and husband Jay-Z�s catalogs including �Big Pimpin�� and �Dirt Off Your Shoulder.� When Beyonc�s �Get Me Bodied� played, revelers circled around the Knowles sisters as they reenacted dance moves from the song�s video. A pal told the New York Post newspaper: "She has gained a lot of pregnancy weight. When she gains weight, she normally does the Def Jam detox, but not now." Beyonce Knowles further fuelled speculation she is pregnant after she was spotted in New York this week sporting what appeared to be a baby bump. Hollyscoop claims to have exclusive information that Beyonce Knowles and husband Jay-Z get set to have their first baby. The source also said that all the friends and family that attended the ultra private wedding were all aware that Beyonce was already expecting. They rushed the wedding due to Beyonce's strong Christian beliefs. *** April 18, 2008: "Beyonce And Jay-Z, Fighting Already?!" Within less than two weeks the couple managed to break of a record with a public fight. It all started at the Hollywood Bowl for a Barack Obama fundraiser a few days ago. When the DJ played one of Beyonce's biggest hits, Crazy In Love, Jay-Z reportedly spazzed out and said, �F**k that! Sorry Bey, but f**k that - let�s play something else.� Beyonce walked off immediatley, of course angry as hell. After he came off stage, she confronted him, demanding to know what the hell his comments had been about. She was gesturing wildly and not looking happy.� A source said, �He meant it as a joke, but Beyonce didn�t take it that way." *** April 2, 2008: "Beyonce Knowles And Jay-Z Take Out Marriage License" Beyonc� Knowles and longtime beau Jay-Z have taken out a marriage license in Scarsdale, N.Y. According to a source, the pair obtained a license Tuesday morning. The document is valid for 60 days. A rep for Beyonc� told, "No comment." Jay-Z's spokesperson could not be reached. Beyonc�, 26, and Jay-Z, 38, have been dating since 2002, though the couple have stood reluctant to discuss their relationship publicly. Rumors about their romance began circulating after the singer appeared on Jay-Z's song "'03 Bonnie & Clyde," followed by collaborations on Beyonc�'s solo hit "Crazy in Love," in 2003. While the two have remained tight-lipped about the state of their romance, by no means has Beyon� brushed off talk of marriage. In December 2006, the singer told InStyle, "You can't rush a man into anything � whether it's a relationship, marriage or having children."
